Take control over your LinkedIn Bingo Card (LinkedIn Endorsements)

Posted on March 15, 2014 by Petra Fisher

LINKEDIN-ENDORSEMENTS-reorder-linkedin-training-petra-fisher-coaching-workshop-01LinkedIn displays skills ranked by number of LinkedIn endorsements. The skill with the most endorsements first. The ten top most endorsed skills form your Bingo Card. You need 12 pretty faces to vouch for you on ten skills and your card is full BINGO. What if you find another skill more important? You can now move it to the position you want.

When ranked by number of LinkedIn Endorsements ‘training’ is listed as number four. But what does it tell people? Am I a soccer trainer, first aid trainer, fitness trainer, job search trainer, executive trainer, LinkedIn trainer?

Mind the gap

Once people started to pay attention to LinkedIn Endorsements, it seemed silly not to have a full Bingo Card. At least ten skills that 12 people vouched for. Not that most profiles have the uniform look with the Skills & Endorsements section, I like to stand out again by moving a skill with little endorsements to the top.

Control your LinkedIn Endorsements

Whilst you are in edit mode don’t just drag around your skills. Yes make sure to display them in the order of your choice but don’t hit save just yet. Did you ever accept a LinkedIn endorsement for a skill you had not added to your profile? Just remove it! Then move over to the ‘manage’ tab and go through each skill. Do you see a face that, although pretty enough, belongs to a person who has no knowledge of your proficiency in that skill? Just remove the endorsement from that person.
