For a long time, I have been recommending to job seekers and other professionals to post a copy of their resume (with street address and any other confidential information removed*) to their LinkedIn profile. In your Summary and Experience sections, you can add links to videos, images, documents or presentations by clicking on the blue box with a + sign in the corner. You can choose either “Add a Link” or “Upload File” from the dropdown menu that appears.

If you choose “Add a Link” you will see the following:

If you choose “Upload File” you will be brought to your computer’s document files. The possibilities are endless of what you can link to or upload here.

Once you upload a file, you can move it to other sections of your profile by clicking the pencil in the corner of the document:

Then using the “Move this media to” feature:

Here’s what my multi-media portfolio looks like with a resume uploaded directly to the profile:

*Note: If you choose post your resume to LinkedIn®, you may want to remove your address from the header. Assuming you have a public profile, your resume, along with the information on it, will be available to the public. Of course it will also be available to hackers if they break into LinkedIn®, which we know is a real possibility from the events of June 6, 2012 (when multiple LinkedIn® profiles were hacked).

What do you want to share with your LinkedIn® audience? You can build your image through adding links to any important documents and web pages. Have fun!
